Daddy's Team

Matt played his first soft ball game a week and a half ago. Through work, they put together a couple teams to play in the community league. They are called the Blue Sox and he's number 2, the same one he had in college. He played 2nd base, but will probably change over to short stop. He's missed the first few games from work trips and our Utah trip but was finally able to play with 3 games left.

Tommy was excited but what he really wanted was to play himself and asked for HIS team. "Where's my team?" "Can I have a team?".....

Daddy struck out the first time at bat, but 'totally redeemed himself' with a home run, the next time. They won the first game but lost the second. Go Blue Sox :)

10 Months!

The big 1-0 ! It’s crazy he is 10 months old already. Well, 10 1/2 now…sheesh I just can’t keep up. All for good reason though. Coming back from Utah and then Tyler coming straight down with a cough, runny nose, and 5 days later, double ear infections, yes, again. After the antibiotic shot a few weeks ago, the doctor said he’s ears were still red but a 1000x better than what they were-so no tubes! Well, a week later we left for Utah and he was great! We come home and he has SO much congestion, coughing so much at night, he throws up….déjà vu. It has to be this city. Allergies. It has to be.  We need to get outta hereWinking smile No, but this just seems ridiculous. I was actually talking to my visiting teachers and both of them said they, and their families, were constantly sick when they first moved here. They all had colds and ear infections in the spring. One of them said they tried tubes in her son’s ears and it wasn’t until he had his tonsils out that he didn’t get another ear infection.
I took Tyler in on Friday because he wasn’t sleeping AT ALL and so miserable. He’s now on a new antibiotic and a steroid for the congestion. She said I can still give him a little Zyrtec each night. That’s a lot of meds…ugh. We are now 5 days into the antibiotic and he’s still pretty fussy. He does this screeching sound that drives you absolutely nuts. He wasn’t nursing or eating well but that has improved. It wasn’t long before Tommy started coughing with a runny nose too. He hasn’t complained about his ears yet, so here’s hoping. Anyway….
*It’s so hard to take these pictures now because he won’t sit still for anything! These were all I got!

*He’s still sleeping with us…but waking up all through night with coughing.
*His 12 month clothes fit well. I just barely got him in a 12 month onesie for the pictures.
*He loves to take Daddy’s glasses off….hence one reason why Matt has mainly switched to contacts
*He started clicking his tongue. It’s pretty cute.
*He said “dada” on April 1st
*AND THEN said ‘mama’ on April 4th Winking smile when he was really upset though
*Now says dada and mama all the time but specifically mama when he’s crying
*Said ‘uh-oh’ when we were on the couch and dropped a slinky. He now says it every time he drops something, usually on purpose.
*Started “dancing” by bouncing up and down when he heard the music from the lion walker (at grandma’s house)
*Likes to throw balls and toys behind him
*Loves the toilet Sad smile Tries to pull up on it all the time. We are learning to remember to shut the doors!
*He does motor boat with his  lips
*He’ll push his lips out and breathe heavy through his nose. Tommy did this when I would tell him no or take something away, but Tyler does this just randomly.

General Conference and an ‘Uh-Oh!’

For General Conference we stayed home and watched it on the ipad. The BYU TV app is pretty neat. In my attempts to help Tommy somewhat listen, I made these treat tins that had a picture of the prophet, scriptures, the temple, etc… If he heard one of those words, he got a snack. It worked for a few minutes….then they became mommy and daddy treatsSmile I also had a few other activities set up-coloring, a slinky, silly putty, and scripture action figures. He did pretty well. I definitely forgot what it was like to just be able to listen to conference though…. Sunday morning we went to the church. I always like going and getting dressed up for the Sunday session. I didn’t hear a whole lot but I heard enough-exactly what I needed to. It’s funny how that happens.

Saturday morning, before Conference, I finished getting ready and when I came out, Matt said Tommy was in time-out for throwing the bat and hitting the TV. The TV was off and there didn’t appear to be any damage, so that was that. When Matt left for the priesthood session, I turned it on  to see lines and smash in the upper right corner. I gasped. I said, Tommy look what happened. I told him he needed to be very sorry because it was going to make daddy very sad. I wasn’t planning on telling Matt right away, but when he came home, I heard the TV turn on while I was in the kitchen and said, '”NOOO! Tommy run for you life!” Smile
Matt took it fairly well and I think it’s because he didn’t see the damage right away…and he gets a new TV. Ohh kids…and bats. Tommy really did say “I’m sorry Daddy” multiple times, in a very sincere way.

Fort Worth & Birthdays!

Matt had to work in Fort Worth on his birthday, so we decided to go down with him and spend the weekend with Autrey and Shilo. I got to watch Dylan while Shilo went to her doctor’s appointment, and the little goobers had a fun time together. Tommy and Dylan played ‘sleep…wake up’ on the stairs, ate lunch and snacks at the Cars table, and enjoyed Tyler’s car seat-well specifically Dylan. Tyler just crawled around pushing cheerios all over the floor. That night Autrey grilled up some hot dogs and hamburgers for Matt’s birthday dinner. I made some YELLOW cupcakes with CHOCOLATE frosting, his new favorite as of 2 years ago. I swear it was always chocolate cake with chocolate frosting before that, but he says otherwise. The food was great and it was nice of them to help us celebrate his birthday while being away from home. It was quite tricky to get a family photo before the cupcakes, but we managed. Friday we went to the park and I got to visit with my friend Natalie. Then we were lucky enough to go out to dinner with the Growald’s and Ross’ at our favorite-Joe T. Garcia’s…so good! Thanks to Autrey and Shilo for watching Tommy! It is a rare occasion for us to go out to eat almost kid-less. Tyler may always be attached to my hip….
Happy Birthday Matt! Your crazy boys and I love you!

Friday night Mimi and Papa came into town. The boys attempted swimming at the hotel’s pool but it was ridiculously cold(note: see picture of Matt attempting to catch Tommy without a splash). It didn’t stop the little men much though. Then there was some basketball played, m&m’s eaten (Dylan liked them while hiding in the tall grass), AND a mani/pedi for Shilo and I. I enjoyed celebrating Shilo’s birthday Winking smile Thanks Mimi! We left on Sunday, Shilo’s birthday, but it was fun to visit with them for a few days. I was so late doing this post that it will now be only a couple weeks before we see them again! Good times….
