Our little man officially turned 2 on Monday. We love him so much and can’t imagine life without him. He has been our absolute joy. Since a few weeks ago he has become so snuggly and loves to give hugs and kisses. He especially does this when avoiding bedtime. I still love it though, because it has seemed like he’s always been squirmy and wiggly.
His well-check visit at the doctor’s showed him to be growing just as he should be
Weight: 26.2 lbs. (27th%)
Height: 35 3/4” (84th%)
Head Circ.: 48 1/4 cm (39th%)
He had a couple vaccinations and was old enough for the nasal mist flu vaccine. Tommy screamed for a bit after the shots. I think it’s worse for parents as they get older because Tommy looked at me with a look shear agony and puzzlement, saying “why are you letting this happen to me!” (still breaks my heart) But he quickly quieted down when the nurse offered him …..a sucker (of course.)
*Favorites are still:
trucks, trains, machines, fast cars
elmo
golf, basketball, football, anything with a ball really
*nothing could make him smile bigger than telling him he’s getting some chocolate milk!
*He uses plenty of full sentences when talking
*He loves to glue things, use scissors to cut paper, and use my paper punches
*Loves to sing and be sung to. He can sing so many songs now-mainly primary songs, along with ABC’s, Take Me Out to the Ball Game, Jingle Bells, and Frosty
*When he sees something new or that he likes he’ll say, “that’s awesome!” and then quickly followed by, “Great!”
*He also says, ‘I like that’
*When he gets hurt he immediately runs to me, saying, “show mama” and expects me to kiss it. Then he’ll go to daddy and ask for ‘surgery’
*His favorite book right now is the recorded Elmo book, Papa did for him. That's what I hear in every car ride-Papa, Papa, Papa ;)
*He knows his numbers up to 10 but usually skips 8 when counting, and sometimes says 11,12,13 and 14
I’m sure there are lots of other things but that’s all I can remember for now. He still has a spice for life!
He had a
fantastic birthday celebration with just family. He was so excited for his birthday and loved singing ‘happy birthday to Tommy’ all week. When asked how old he was going to be he would say, ‘2 years old!’ (very excitingly)
It was great to have Autrey, Shilo, and Dylan over all weekend, and we were happy that Mimi and Papa made the drive up for it. It wouldn’t have been the same without them. On Friday we ate at the Olive Garden, and during the wait, we had a look at the Rooms To Go Store. Our little guys tried out the just-their-size recliners.
Mimi brought up her bounce house and that could have been birthday celebration enough for Tommy. It amazingly fit in our dining room.

I stayed up late making decorations. I know there wasn’t a big group of people coming over for a party, but I still wanted to make it fun and special. I think he liked them

After a breakfast of chocolate milk and sprinkled donuts, Tommy went to Chuck E. Cheese’s for the 1st time. It is definitely a place ‘where a kid can be a kid!’ He loved all of the games and even the ride around the clock. Dylan wasn't a step behind and had a pretty good time too!

He wanted to see Chuck E. Cheese but this was as close as he’d get….a little too close apparently.

Then we headed to the Rainforest CafĂ©. They had gorillas around the restaurant that made sounds and danced every few minutes and a huge chomping alligator at the front. He was pretty fascinated with the gorillas and couldn’t get enough of the alligator.

The mall had a train so there was no question about riding it

He got to ride in the front and watch the steam come out.

Then we headed home for some presents and cake!

He had a little cupcake first because the cake wasn’t ready.
It didn’t matter that it was ridiculously cold outside…he had to try out his new clubs from Mimi and Papa

“9 Holes-Let’s go!”

All Aboard!

The quickly decorated, ran-out-of-time, still loved by Tommy, train cake

We also had a piñata, not that he needed more sugar

Toy explosion+candy explosion= 1 messy house!

Bye-Bye Mimi and Papa! (The weather was going to get bad so they left Saturday night)

Saturday night was filled with more train play and some Wii with Autrey, Shilo, Matt, and I.

On Monday, Tommy’s actual birthday, golf was a big part of the day.

We headed to Tommy’s favorite place, Chick-fil-a for dinner. He had a few chicken nuggets but was all about the chocolate milk!
Not a break…even for a pic with Dad. It was gone in literally 60 seconds! We also looked around at the nearby toy store where he got to play with the train table.

As the tradition goes, we went to Piccomolo for Italian gelato. This was the last place we went before Tommy was born. Matt and I love it, Tommy loved it when he turned 1, and he loved it today!

We left Tommy one more present for his birthday that he opened when we got home-a fire station/police house. It was a big hit considering it had a helicopter, motorcycle, and firetruck!

And of course the night couldn’t end with out a little bounce house!

We love you little man! Happy Birthday my 2 year old!
Oh, and after paying the stinkin' 5 dollars for extra picture space, I am going to stick with this blog. I like using the Windows Live Writer. I was able to download all these pics in a snap!
